Meet The Coach
Working in corporate life and having a family with 3 children to raise did not leave me with much energy to want to work out at the end of the day. Energized and glowing is how I have always felt after a workout. However, I would exercise only to reach a goal and then I would take long breaks. While I had lost all of the baby weight after each child, I noticed that as I was getting older my body was changing and NOT responding to small changes in diet and intermittent exercise which had worked in the past. As a result, over the span of 5 years of unnecessary stress, business trips and sheer neglect of myself, I had gained 40 lbs. As a result, I was experiencing full body palpating aches, plantar fasciitis flare ups, back pain, shoulder pain and knee pain. The last straw was when I had to hold the hand rail to get up the stairs at the age of 45!
I have an obvious physical disability so I needed someone highly specialized who could modify a standard workout routine. Imrana was the answer!!!
One of the many commendable things about Imrana is that, on her own time and at her own workouts, she tries different methods of exercising for each client. She even developed exercises to compliment my physical therapy due to a rotator cuff injury. Imrana has developed a workout routine for me that works from my head to my toes. If she can do it for me, she can do it for you!!!
How Did I Reach My Optimal Wellness?
I decided to make a holistic change that involved focusing on 5 key aspects – lifestyle, exercise, attitude, nutrition and sleep – and applying positive coaching methods towards myself, such as: Appreciative Inquiry, Non-Violent Communication and Motivational Intervewing. Since I’d been down this weight loss road before, I knew I needed to make the current change slowly and with positive support within me and around me. My motivation came from NEVER wanting to experience those types of aches and pains again, and instead focusing on the relief I experienced each time I stretched a tight muscle, how well I was able to breathe and get through a strenous workout, or the amazement at the decreasing levels of pain in my body.
Focusing on these 5 key aspects has also helped me to lose 40 lbs over the span of a year and a half, increase my endurance, improve my balance, increase my strength and reduct the burden on my heart by lowering my resting heart rate! I also wanted the change to be one that I was able to maintain for a lifetime, I then decided to combine my passion of science and coaching with health and fitness by taking the leap to become a Certified Personal Fitness Trainer and Master Certified Health Coach which would allow me to work with and coach individuals on the same path to health. I welcome you to join me on this journey to optimal wellness.
I have battled my weight most of my life, and have belonged to gyms off and on throughout the years. I could really relate to Imrana and her personal journey. She has physically challenged and pushed me in my workouts, helped me tweak my nutrition to fuel my body properly and encouraged me, especially to speak kindly about and * to * myself. As I look forward to turning 50, I feel very lucky to have had Imrana guide me toward what I believe is going to be the beginning of the beast, healthiest stage of my life!
